HAIFA, ISRAEL – NOVEMBER 15, 2002 – CompuLab introduced today the SB-i686 – a low-cost PC/104+ Single Board Computer with an outstanding level of function integration. The SB-i686 integrates the CM-i686 module with additional on-board functions to create an embedded computer with capabilities usually offered only by large motherboards. The functional content of the SB-i686 offers a ready-to-use solution for applications such as set-top boxes, gateways, internet kiosks, to name just a few.
About the SB-i686 SBC
The SB-i686, together with the attached CM-i686 module, contains an NS Geode CPU at 266 MHz, SDRAM, Flash Disk, SVGA graphics controller, one or two 100Mb ethernet ports, USB, sound, PCMCIA/CardBus controller, serial ports, infrared interface, general purpose I/O, real-time clock, PS/2 keyboard and mouse controller, parallel port, and interfaces to floppy and hard disks. Headers for standard cables/connectors are provided for all functions. Many of the above-mentioned contents are optional and are included according to the specific application’s requirements.
The SB-i686 provides three expansion interfaces: PC/104 (ISA) connector, PC/104+ (PCI) connector and one or two optional PCMCIA/CardBus slots.

The SB-i686 SBC, including a CM-i686 module, is available today, and is priced starting at $159 for 1,000-unit quantities. Evaluation Kits are also available from CompuLab.
